Do you have an adverse event reporting site saved to your browser ‘bookmark/favorite’ folder? Most of us in healthcare may have one or two links staring back at us on our work computers but we rarely use them unless we are in Drug Safety roles.
While we can respond to drug/vaccine reactions as they occur, taking the next step to effectively share our experiences will support efforts to uncover problematic trends and prevent future harm. The FDA has online tools that exist for exactly this purpose.
Here are some links (to add to your bookmarks :D):
MedWatch: Use to report “observed or suspected adverse events for human medical products”. For Health Professionals & Public.
VAERS: Use to report adverse events that occur after a vaccine is given and to report errors in administration. Form may be filled out online or via PDF
Safety Reporting Portal: This portal is geared towards organizations and certain professionals but the public can report here as well. Use for events related to Food, Dietary supplements, Tobacco, E-cigarettes or Vaping, Animal food & drugs, and more (visit site for details).
